Welcome to the memorial page for

Daniel John

March 21, 1932 ~ December 22, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Daniel John, 84, of Bellaire, Texas, loving husband of the late Dolores (Berckenhoff) John, quietly and peacefully went home to be with our Lord on December 22, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Friends and family are invited to the Visitation from 5 PM to 7 PM which will be immediately followed by the Rosary on Monday, December 26th at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown, Texas.  The funeral Mass will be at 10 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown, Texas on Tuesday, December 27th, concelebrated by Father Roger Hawes and Father Frank Lenz. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Daniel was born in Garfield, Texas, on March 21, 1932, to Thomas and Josie Maron John.  He graduated from Yorktown High School and after enlisting in the Army to serve in the Korean War, he continued on with his education, putting himself through college to receive a BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston.  He exemplified his motto you can achieve anything, all you have to do is remove the “t” from “can’t”.

Daniel married Dolores, from Garfield, on August 25, 1956, at Holy Cross Catholic Church.  He shared 42 beautiful years with Dolores, loving and caring for her until cancer claimed her final breath. Daniel faithfully lived his marriage vows for his bride, “..in sickness and in health, until death do us part”.

Daniel’s career in the natural gas pipeline industry spanned over forty years with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, beginning as a tax accountant  with its Trunkline Gas subsidiary and ultimately as Director, Rates and Regulatory Affairs in the corporate office upon his retirement.  Faith and family mattered most in Daniel’s life and were the catalysts for his interests and hobbies. He loved the outdoors, whether it was tending to his beautiful garden or hunting and fishing with his son, son-in-laws and grandchildren.  He was actively involved in his parish communities of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Houston and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown.

Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, his son, Duane, his parents and siblings; Anton, Bill, Sally, Frank, Tommy, Elizabeth and Edward.

Daniel’s spirit of love lives on in the family he is survived by; his children Donna (Keefe) Worley, daughter-in-law, Teresa John, Diane (Michael) Harding and Deanna (Dean) Doxakis, his seven grandchildren Katherine (Christopher) Beetle, Matthew Worley, Martin and Michael John, Faith Harding, John and Jacob Doxakis; his two great-grandchildren Morgan and James Beetle; his sister Margaret Moczygemba; his loving companion Bernice Zaiontz; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel lived his 84 years on this earth to the fullest.  He woke up every day with a purpose that inspired him to overcome the many health challenges he lived with.  He made every day count, touching the lives of so many.
