LeRoy Ruppert

LeRoy Ruppert, 91, of Yorktown passed away Thursday April 12, 2018. He was born Oct. 7, 1926 in Weesatche, Texas to the late Henry and Ella Sonneborn Ruppert. He was baptized on May 1, 1927 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown by E. A. Sagebiel. He served in the Army during WW II. He married the love of his life Lela Mae (Dolly) Riedesel on Dec. 13, 1951. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who had his hands in the dirt starting as a young boy. He spent his days as a farmer and worked overtime by spending summers working in the cotton gin. On most Friday nights you could find him in uniform escorting a school bus to a football game or working the door at a local dance. He was one of the founding members of the Yorktown FFA board of directors, he served many years as the president and even after his years in the ring working the gates were over you could still find him in his black chair on the side to watch many kids year after year. He loved telling stories and never was at a loss for words and enjoyed the visitors that came into the Davy store. He was a member of the Garfield Shooting Club and Yorktown Young Farmers.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Dolly Ruppert, his children Charles Ruppert, Laura Sanders and Peggy Oliver. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Sun. April 15, 2018 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 am Mon. April 16, 2018 at Massey Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Westside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Carl David Clyne, Melissa Alcazar, Jeffery Ruppert, Misty Corpus, Jennifer Franke and Derrick Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Franke, Jose Alcazar, Donna Ruppert, Ashley Green and Anthony Corpus.
