Robert "Bobby" Muschalek

Robert Allen Muschalek, 76, was born on November 7, 1939 to Nick and Leona Malaer Muschalek in DeWitt County, Texas near the old community of Davy. Bobby bravely fought cancer for the last seventeen months.  He passed away on June 9, 2016, at his home with his wife and four children by his side. He married the former Estella Koenig on July 2, 1960 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown, Texas.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William “Bill” Miller and Nick Muschalek, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Estella, of 55 years; four children: Derek Muschalek of Yorktown, Keith (Robin) Muschalek of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Karleen (Jerry) McAdams of Deer Park, and Jeff (Angella) Muschalek of Baytown; eight grandchildren: Jeremy Muschalek, Amber McAdams (Davis) Schroeder, Ashley McAdams, Mason Muschalek, Madison Muschalek, Reece Muschalek, Sophie Muschalek, and Wade Bland; and one great grandchild, Aubrey Bland.

Bobby retired from Brown & Root Construction Company in Houston after twenty five years and he and Estella returned to Yorktown in 1986 to take up farming and ranching full time. Bobby was very active once he returned to Yorktown.  He was an election judge in Yorktown, a director of DeWitt Electric Coop (now GVEC), and a director and president of Garfield Farm Mutual Insurance. He also gave numerous speeches on the Davy community and was very active with the Salt Creek Cemetery Association. His hobbies were arrowhead collecting, gardening, and local history.  He wrote a book about the Davy community called Davy - Old Salt Creek Community: Its Beginning, Its Development, Its People. But his true passion was always his family and friends.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday June 13, 2016 at Massey Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 pm.  Funeral Mass will be 10 am Tuesday June 14, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Pall Bearers will be Frankie Seifert, Buddy Boldt, Kenneth Domann, Bruce Koenig, Arvie Jacobs and Monroe Rieger.

The family would like to thank Hospice of South Texas for allowing Bobby to be on his beloved farm his last week.
