Sherri (Bowen) Staff

Sherri Lynn Staff, age 52, died peacefully on February 17, 2017 at her home in Yorktown. She was born September 25, 1964 in Robstown, TX.

Sherri was a loving mother and grandmother with a passion for cooking. She was known for her mac and cheese---her children’s favorite---but she also made some really good fried chicken.

When she was younger, Sherri tended bar, and later worked at Rudy’s in Yorktown. Working in the service industry allowed her to develop an uncanny ability to instinctively know people. This also made her a terrible companion while watching any thriller, as she always figured out “whodunit” before you did.

While she was a doting family woman who loved with the force of a thousand suns, she was also tough as nails and was truly a force to be reckoned with.  In addition to her strength and compassion, Sherri also possessed a razor-sharp wit and a laugh that proved contagious to anyone lucky enough to hear it.

Her lack of patience was well documented and she suffered no fools, but Sherri also loved to have fun and she made any event special simply by being there. She was well known for her outspoken nature. She always told you the truth, (even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear), and she was always quick to share her opinion and give you her unvarnished appraisal of any given situation.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Anthony Staff & sons John Eldridge Carr, Austin Pena (Bonnie), Jeremy Staff (Justin) and Joshua Staff; daughters Robin Contreras (Robert) and Brandy Dunn (Eric). Grandchildren Sky, Marion, Elijah, Kierra, Dallaz, Kirsten, Dakota, Tre, Taylor, Cullen, Orrin, Evan, Emmalyn, Madison, Mackenzie & Tanner.

There will be a celebration of life and BBQ at Yorktown Park on March 4th, 2017 from 12-4. Monetary Donations may be made to Massey Funeral Home, Yorktown Texas (361)564-2900.
