Sofia (Garza) Garcia

Sofia Garza Garcia, age 93, went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday Aug. 14, 2016.  She was born June 3, 1923 in Nordheim, TX to the late Rosendo and Nicolasa Elizondo Garza.  She was a member of San Luis Catholic Church. She is loved and adored by her family.

She is survived by her children Antonio G. (Lupe) Garia Jr., Oralia Garcia, Sofia Garcia, Rosalinda (Joe) Ochoa, Raul (Yolanda) Garcia, Lydia G. Soliz, Rudy (Teresa) Garcia, Daniel G. (Sylvia) Garcia, Mary Helen (Gilbert) Garcia, son-in-law Richard Martinez and sister Felicita Hernandez of San Antonio.  She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Antonio Garcia Sr. and two daughters Esther Martinez and Esparanza Garcia.

One of 13 children Sofia grew up on a farm in Nordheim, TX and lead a remarkable and beautiful life. She overcame the sudden death of her husband and the love for her children and strength and determination helped her through the years to raise them properly by herself. This love has greatly inspired her own children and grandchildren to place their own family as the most important thing in their life next to God.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday Aug. 16, 2016 at Massey Funeral Home with a rosary starting at 7 pm.  Funeral Mass will be 10 am Wednesday Aug, 17, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at San Luis Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Antonio Garcia III, Donovan Anthony Garcia, Jonathan Gilbert Garcia, Aaron Yves Garcia, Ruben Soliz, Jr. and Daniel Anthony Garcia
