Patricia Norris Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia (Patty) Ann Norris, who left this world to join her savior, Jesus on March 4, 2024, at the age of 72.

Services will be held, graveside, at Houston National Cemetery on March 27, 2024, at 12:30 pm.

Patricia Ann Norris was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 14, 1951, to William (Bill) Arthur and Mary Joy (Bahr) Herald.  She was one of six children.  In 1959 the family moved to Houston TX where she spent most of her life.  Patty married Michael Ray Cottrell in 1968 and had 2 beautiful children.  She single-handedly raised both children to be very respectful adults after the sudden death of her husband.

She is preceded in death by her father, William A. Herald, Mother, Mary Joy (Bahr) McClung, Husband, Michael Ray Cottrell, Stepfather, Marshall Eugene Henson, and Husband, Norman Lynn Norris.

Patty and Norman Norris met in 1988 and fell in love. When they were first getting to know each other, Norm revealed that he used to whistle at Patty as a teenager whenever she walked by his father's shop. Fate brought them together years later, and they discovered that they were meant to be soulmates and married in 1999.

Patty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply.  She is remembered for her love of music and dancing from a young age as well as having dance parties with her grandchildren.  Patty was a fantastic cook who enjoyed hosting family gatherings and preparing delicious meals for everyone. Her love for gardening was evident in her beautiful flower gardens, which she tended to with great care and dedication. She also loved to decorate; some would call her an “over-decorator”.  Even so, everything just fell into place and looked amazing!  Patty was a generous and thoughtful person who often put others before herself. She cherished her family and friends, especially her brothers and sisters, and was happiest when they were all together. She was a great storyteller and loved keeping in touch with everyone. Patty will be deeply missed by her loving family, including her daughter, Lisa McPhail, and son-in-law, John, Son, Clint Cottrell and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, Grandchildren, Brandi and Sandi McPhail, Kurt Basa, Candi DeLuna, and husband Josh, Emily, Cole and Charlie McPhail, Ethan and wife Makayla, Sarah, Rylee, and McKinley Cottrell, Sister, Nancy Kiely and brother-in-law, Rick, Brother, Tommy Herald and sister-in-law, Susan, Sister, Rita Brose, Brother, David Herald & Laura Baird, Brother, Stephen Henson, And numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the memories of those who knew and loved her.
