Alphonse “Al” Wagner, 93, of Yorktown passed away Thurs. June 7, 2018. He was born June 5, 1925 in Yorktown, TX to the late Emil and Anna Rohan Wagner. He married Myrlin Wild on September 4, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church by Father B.C. Kaminski, where he was still a member. Al was drafted to the Army during WWII and was an 11th Airborne Paratrooper. He retired from DuPont after 34 years. He was also a member of the school board for several years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his coffee, beer, goats and his daily trips to Dairy Queen.
He is survived by his wife Myrlin Wild Wagner, daughters Lori (William) Potcinske, Pam (Boyd) Weise and Amy (Jim) Mareth. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Chad (Crystal) Potcinske, Haley Potcinske, Jordan (Brooke) Weise, Brittney Weise, Madison Weise, Paige Mareth, Macy Mareth, and one Great-granddaughter Amelia Potcinske. He is also survived by his sisters Doris Boldt, and Leona Berckenhoff.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Olga Babin, Elizabeth Pokluda, Anna Mae Ryan, brothers Victor, Gilbert and Edwin Wagner.
Visitation 6-7:30 pm Friday June 15, 2018 with Rosary at 7:30 pm at Massey Funeral Home. Memorial Mass at 10 am Sat. June 16, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas or donor’s choice.
