Billie Jolene Tapp, 79, of Yorktown, Texas passed away Wednesday July 25, 2018. She was born June 14, 1939 in Pratt, KS to the late William Joseph and Opal Johnson McCune. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Yorktown. When Jolene made a friend, they were a friend for life. Jolene was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Children were always important to her. She volunteered as a mentor at Yorktown Elementary, Sunday school, vacation bible school and Girl Scouts. She worked at Alief Middle School in Houston, Clark High School in San Antonio, and retired from Cuero High School after 15 years of service
She is survived by her husband of 59 years,William Tapp, daughters Tamara (Frank) Gentry, Jennifer (Scott) Walterscheid, grandchildren Diane (Michael) Benting, Daniel (Donna) Hutchison IV, Jenise (Steve) Nam and great grandchildren Mia Nam, Nami Hutchison, Daniel Hutchison V, Liam Nam and Elliot Nam.
She is preceded in death by parents William Joseph and Opal Johnson McCune, siblings John McCune, Glen McCune, Kendall McCune, Neeva Stone, Mildred DeVenney, Kenneth Moore and Maxine Gilmore.
Visitation 4-6 pm Saturday July 28, 2018 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:30 pm Sunday July 29, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, Yorktown, TX.
Service for interment will be Sept. 4, 2018 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Yorktown EMS or Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion, Victoria, TX.
