Gilbert J. Buch, 77, of Nordheim passed away Sunday June 30, 2019. He was born March 27, 1942 in Cuero to the late Adolph and Willie Gatlin Buch. In September of 1960 Gilbert joined the National Guard. He did his basic training at Ft. Hood, TX. From there he was stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He Started out as a Private first Class and worked up to Sargent and on special assignment as Tank Commander. He received recognition for sharp shooting and proudly served 6 years in the Reserves. After the Military he began his career in the oilfield where he retired with Patterson UTI. Gilbert’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and taking care of his cows & he loved spending time with his dogs. Gilbert also cherished the time with his son, daughter in law, grandchildren, his sisters, brothers and friends.
He is survived by his son Gaylon (Sarah) Buch and grandchildren Vayden and Lila Buch. He is also survived by his brothers: Larry Neil and Michael Dain Buch, sisters: Gladys Marie Buch Bradstetter, Marylin Louise Buch Filip, Joyce Faye Buch Strauss and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Janis Buch.
Memorials may be given in his honor to Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation or donor’s choice.
Memorial service will be 10 am Saturday July 13, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Nordheim. Burial for Gilbert and Janis Buch to follow at Nordheim Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall-Nordheim
