Howard Baumann Obituary

Howard Anne Davenport Baumann, 69, of Nordheim, TX passed away September 5, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in New Roads, Louisiana to the late Howard Dave Davenport from Runge, TX, and Alice Rae Landers from Heavener, Oklahoma.

Howard Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She married in 1967 and raised 4 beautiful children in Port Aransas. She developed a love of teaching and working with children for Port Aransas ISD as an aide. In 1987 she relocated to Nordheim and married Paul Baumann on Aug. 20, 1988. She graduated from UH-Victoria with her Bachelor’s degree, was certified in secondary English, taught Special Education at Kenedy ISD and then taught at the Connelly Unit in Kenedy where she finished her career and retired.  She loved sewing quilts, pillows, anything for her grandchildren, other friends and mending broken hearts. She was always the life of the party, and made them special for everyone. She never gave up no matter how sick she was and she handled her illness like she wasn’t sick at all. She had a love for walking along the beach and watching the waves crash against the shore.

Howard Anne is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Paul Alfred Baumann, her children Weslie Nixon of Sinton, Raymond (Ibeth) Nixon of Cypress, Maggie (Steven) Nixon-Torrez of Nordheim, and Alyce Nixon. Step children Paul (Cathy) Baumann Jr. of Nordheim, Scott (Rachel) Baumann of League City, and Misty Baumann Lowe of Willis. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, and her sister Elizabeth (Robert) Nelson of Runge.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alicia Mae Southard, Norma Grace Durbin, and brother Roddy Dave Davenport.

Pallbearers will be Scott Baumann, Paul Baumann Jr., Chris Romans, Paul Romans, Shane Nelson, and Jimmy Nelson.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Nordheim, Hospice of South Texas, or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
