Otto Janssen Jr.

Otto J. Janssen Jr. 95, of Yorktown, Texas passed away Wednesday Feb.21, 2018.  He was born Aug. 22, 1922 in Nordheim to the late Otto Sr. and Erna Wendt Janssen.  Otto was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim where he was a lifelong member. He attended Nordheim schools and graduated in 1940. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served 35 months. In 1948 he married Myrtle Schmidt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown and would have been married 70 years on June 10, 2018.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Myrtle, daughters Bonnie (Frank) Carter, Penny Sievers, grandchildren Neal (Elizabeth) Linhart, John (Pauline) Linhart, Jeff (Kayla) Sievers. Erin (Coler) Linhart Yoakam, Josh Sievers and great granddaughters Isabella Linhart, Kendall Sievers, Caroline Yoakam and Madeleine Yoakam.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Arlan Sievers.

Pallbearers will be Frank Carter, Neal Linhart, Jeff Sievers, Josh Sievers, Coler Yoakam and John Linhart.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday Feb. 23, 2018 at Massey Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday Feb. 24, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim.  Interment will follow at Nordheim Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church-Nordheim or donor’s choice.
