Albert Carl (Tex) Schroeder, 89, passed away on April 9th, 2020. He was born in Nixon, TX on March 6th, 1931, and grew up in Yorktown, TX where his parents owned the Yorktown Bakery for many years. Early in life, Albert expressed an interest in pursuing a musical career, playing his guitar at various venues around the area. In the early 60’s he moved to Rock Hill, MO where he became a part owner of the Town & Country Music Center. Over the next 30 years he sold musical instruments to famous musicians across the country. He was commonly referred to as “Tex” Schroeder. In 1997 Tex retired from the music industry and moved back to Texas, residing at the Hermann Sons of Texas Retirement Center in Comfort, TX. He quickly developed close friends at the retirement center who also shared a love for music. Tex continued to play his guitar and entertain at several retirement homes in the San Antonio area. In 2018, he moved to Victoria TX to be close to his family. He resided at Greatwood Senior Living Community and continued to play his favorite guitar for the residence.
He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Henry H and Elenore Schroeder, and his brother, Henry W Schroeder.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Angela A Schroeder, his nephew Phil Schroeder (Geri), and nieces Robin Roznovsky (Vince) and Connie Ortiz (Miguel); his great nephews Christopher Roznovsky (Megan). Roddy Arnold, and Clint Arnold (Stormi); and great nieces Aleece Schroeder and Jory Achttien (Adam) and seven great grand nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his family as “Uncle AC” with a joke always in his pocket.
Due to the current health situation a private graveside will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will schedule a Celebration of Life once the situation passes.
