Billye Jean (Ashby) Saunders

Billye Jean Saunders, 71, of Yorktown passed away Sun. Jan. 30, 2022. She was born July 27, 1950 in Galveston, Tx to the late Wilma Lee Ashby and Regina Kozelski Ashby. She was confirmed in her Catholic faith and attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Meyersville. She worked hard for her education and was very intelligent and dedicated when it came to the medical field. She worked at Cuero Community hospital as an ICU Nurse for many years. Billye loved her family, and enjoyed shopping with her longtime companion Jeff Hartman. She also enjoyed watching the Golden Girls every day and her dog, Ebony.

She is survived by her children Stephen Pokluda, Terri (Darrell) Spell, Kim Curlee, Jerry (Kristina) Saunders Jr, 13 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Ed) Leonard and longtime friend Jeff Hartman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Saunders Sr, and daughter-in-law Heide Pokluda.

Memorials may be given in her honor to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Meyersville or Donor's Choice.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wed. Feb. 2, 2022 at Massey Funeral Home, Rosary will follow at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be 10 am Thurs. Feb. 3, 2022 at Massey Funeral Home, Interment to follow at Westside Cemetery.
