With his two children by his side, Bobby James von Roeder, 91, of Yorktown, went to his heavenly home on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was born April 24, 1930 in Yorktown to the late Joachim von Roeder and Elmina Pecenka.
Bobby grew up on a farm in Yorktown with Hereford cattle. At an early age he delivered milk and ice. Later he worked for D & K Grocery, Ford Motor Company and Firestone. Bobby graduated from Yorktown High School in 1949. On June 18, 1950, he married his sweetheart, Billie Jean Randow of Galveston. Billie and Bobby celebrated 70 years of marriage and were blessed with two children.
Perhaps one of his favorite scriptures was quite simple, "Do not let your hearts be troubled." He was rarely anxious or worried about anything; he would not let his heart be troubled. In his heart, he was a country boy in jeans and boots. He didn't like attention; he never wanted anyone to make a big deal over his birthday or any special occasion. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved every kind of animal - from deer to dogs - and everything in between. He lived life with gentleness and integrity, with generosity and joy, always dedicated to his family.
He is survived by his son Russell (Roxanne) von Roeder of Yorktown; his daughter Marilyn von Roeder-Kunkel of Victoria; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Joachim von Roeder and Elmina Pecenka; a younger brother Milam Russell von Roeder; and his wife, Billie Jean von Roeder on June 25, 2020.
