Carl Meeks, Sr. Obituary

Carl Meeks, Sr., 92, of Victoria passed away Friday, January 3, 2025.  He was born June 21, 1932 in Purcell, Oklahoma to the late Hubert and Dovie Meeks.  He married Mary Alice Parker on February 25, 1955 in McAllen, Texas.

Carl worked in the oilfield, stateside, offshore, and overseas and retired after 30 years of service.  Upon his retirement from the oilfield, he worked in the maintenance departments at Retama Manor Nursing Home and Linwood Place in Victoria, Texas.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Lou Austin; brother, Benjamin Meeks; sister-in-law, Peggy Soto; and son, Larry Meeks.

Carl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary of Victoria; son, Carl Meeks, Jr. of Victoria; daughter, Patty Strieber (Bobby) of Yorktown; daughter, Peggy Schroller (Jay) of Houston; grandchildren, Chris Meeks (Cara) of Burleson; Stacy Clark of Mesquite; Tyler Strieber, of Yorktown; Maggie Naranjo (Richard) of Yorktown; Wesley Schroller of Houston; Curtis Schroller (Amber) of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Mason Meeks, Annie Naranjo, and Lily Schroller.  He is also survived by brother, Hubert Meeks, sister-in-law, Liz Meeks, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He lived a long and fulfilling life and will be so very missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be at Massey Funeral Home, Yorktown, Texas on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 10:00 am.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Smith, First Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Yorktown, Texas.  A reception will follow at First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Meeks, Wesley Schroller, Curtis Schroller, Bobby Strieber, Tyler Strieber, and Richard Naranjo, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be given to Yorktown EMS, Crown Hospice, or donor’s choice.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation Twin Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation for all their care and a special thank you to Crown Hospice for their compassionate nursing care and support.  We greatly appreciate all the love and kindness shown.
