Donald Ray Snowden

Donald Ray Snowden, 85, passed away September 12, 2024 in Houston, TX. He was born September 7,1939 in Alice, TX to Ray and Ambanez Snowden.  He was a dedicated family man and devout Christian.

Donald married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann McDonald in 1959. Work moved their family around South Texas until they landed in Houston in 1970.

The pride of Donald’s professional career was Snowden Distributing Company. SDC was truly a family business that, through his guidance, taught his family the value of hard work.  His commitment to his faith was evident in his longtime service to God as a Deacon, most recently at Second Baptist Church. He had a passion for woodworking and cherished his time serving God and his community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; their sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Allison of Bryan, Brad and Jennifer of Houston, Lynn and Bridgette of Houston, their grandsons Cody of San Antonio, Garrett of Bryan, Bradley and wife Samantha of Indiana, Graydon of Bryan, and Austin of California; and great grandsons Will and Louis.  He is also survived by his brother Barry and wife Bobbie and family of Fredericksburg, TX. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for friends and family will be 1:00 – 2:00 pm Thursday September 19, 2024 at Forest Park Westheimer Mausoleum Chapel, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX.  A graveside service will be held afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Second Baptist Church for the benefit of Iron Men Group, Second Baptist Church Woodway Campus, 6400 Woodway Dr. Houston, TX 77057.
