George Lee Saunders

George Lee Saunders, 78, of Yorktown passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 28, 1946 in Yorktown to Eli and Pauline Machost Saunders. He joined the United States Marines and served in Vietnam. After serving his country he worked for the oilfield industry for over 52 years and retired in 2014. He married the love of his life Sandy Crader on December 30, 1972.

George is survived by his wife of 51 years Sandy Saunders, daughters Mariann (Jeff) Klein, Rhonda Saunders and grandchildren Abby, Eliot, Waylon, Oaklynn Klein and Hanna Milton-Saunders. He is also survived by his sisters Bonnie Kellis, Dianne (Norvan) Moore, Sandy (Odell) Johnson and sister-in-law's Rita Saunders, Mary Lee Saunders and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Peet Waits, siblings Shirley (Norris) Schultz, David Saunders and Dennis Saunders Sr.

Memorials may be given to Crown Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown.

Celebration of Life will be held November 16, 2024 at 4 pm at 627 E. 8Th St. Yorktown, Texas. Following celebration, dinner will be served.
