Manuel C. Serrano, 75, of Yorktown, TX passed away on July 27, 2022. He was born May 31, 1947 in Yorktown, TX to the late Agustin Sr. and Mercedes Castro Serrano. He graduated from Yorktown High School and furthered his education by gaining his barbers license while attending and obtaining certification from San Jacinto Community College. He was a member of San Luis and Holy Cross Catholic Church. He also served on the Yorktown City Council beginning in 1992 and continued his commitment to the community for many years.
Manuel truly was the embodiment of hard work, working his way from a migrant worker to building his name as a draftsman, trucking sales, and later owning his construction business, Serrano Bros. Construction. His first priority was his family and worked every day to love and nurture his relationships with his parents, siblings, and children. He married Annie Perez and later had three children; Troy, Tracy and Timothy. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, traveling, and music.
Manuel is survived by his three children; Troy (Rhonda) Serrano of Victoria, Tracy (Buddy) Lassmann of Yorktown, Tim (Sara) Serrano of Inez, grandchildren; Jacob Serrano, Jayce Serrano, Jordan Serrano, Ryan Serrano, Jayden Serrano, Kaylie Serrano, Brody Lassmann, Madelyn Serrano, great-granddaughters Layna, Jillian, Jazlynn Serrano and two great-grandchildren who are expected later this year. He is also survived by sister Susan Silgero, brothers, Danny (Dubelsa) Serrano, Ruben (Katie) Serrano, Noel (Mary) Serrano and many nieces and nephews.
Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, brother Agustin Serrano Jr. and wife Annie Perez Serrano.
Visitation 5-7 pm Thursday. August 25, 2022 with Rosary at 7 pm at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral Mass 10 am Friday, August 26, 2022 at San Luis Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Luis Catholic Cemetery.
