Roland G. Riedesel, 93, of Yorktown passed away Sun. Nov. 7, 2021. He was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Dewitt County to the late Herman and Marie Schmidt Riedesel. He was the youngest of seven children. He married the love of his life Gail Gras before he left for Korea. He was an honest man with a good heart and he loved God and his family. He loved telling jokes, always had a twinkle in his eye, master of all games he played; pool, golf and skat dominos. He had a wonderful childhood, not a lot of money, but a lot of love. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He loved to travel, especially to Alaska and Colorado.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Gail Gras Riedesel, children Gil (Beth) Riedesel, Martha (Arvid) Podsim, Robert Riedesel, grandchildren Ryan (Vickie) Podsim, Larissa (Michael) Kitchens, Robyn (Roger) Smith, Erin (Adam) Schroeder, great grandchildren Barrett Smith, Hunter Smith, Isaac Schroeder, Eliott Schroeder, Alexander Schroeder, Ezekiel Schroeder, Hazel Kitchens and Sierra Kitchens. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws Leona Riedesel, Page Graves, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John, Herman A, Fritz, Wilfred, sisters Pauline Metting and Oliva Janssen.
Visitation 9-10 am with Memorial service starting at 10 am Sat. Nov. 13, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
