Russell A. Day was born in Corpus Christ, TX. He passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023 at the age of 56 in Houston, TX. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy living their lives to the fullest. Russell attended King High School in Corpus Christi and later Hallmark Academy in San Antonio where he learned to work on aircraft. He then met the love of his life, Dina, when he moved to Tennessee in 1992. It was a love-at-first-sight meeting, and she was by his side every step of the way. They were married on Dec. 1, 1994. Along with Russell's daughter, Desirae, they had two children together: Taylor & Ryan. In 1995, they moved to Houston for a promising job opportunity with American Airlines. He later joined the United Airlines family where he worked for 23 years. He was a member of the TWU and his union brothers were a significant part of his life. He considered Joel, Miguel, and Brian to be his best buddies. Russell was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing and sharing those hobbies with his children. He loved cooking for his family and was a movie buff. He loved all types of music, but country was his favorite. Russell's pride was his family. They meant everything to him. He was a hard-working husband and father of 3, and he showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile.
Russell is survived by his wife, Dina Day, his three children, Desirae, Taylor & Ryan Day; siblings, Suzanne Day, Vicky, and (Roger Herwig); nieces Morgan Cano (husband Justin Cano), and Brandi Alexander; nephew, Brian Valente (wife Easter Valente); 4 great nieces; 2 great nephews; And many other loving family members
Russell is preceded in death by his parents George A. Day and Annie Pearl Garner Day; Paternal Grandparents Druce A. Day and Rosalee Day; Maternal Grandparents, Russell Garner and Jesse Garner; and nephew Justin E. Herwig.
A visitation for Russell will be held on 03/21 at 10AM at Darst Funeral Home
Services will be held following the visitation on 03/21 at 11AM at Darst Funeral Home
Interment will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Yorktown, TX on 03/22 at 1PM.
