Terry Lee Koehler

Terry Lee Koehler was born on April 11, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Denton Ray “Buddy” and Mary Ann (Kirchoff) Koehler. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

The Houston Astros lost one of their most devoted fans. Terry had an amazing ability to quote stats on nearly every player on the team. He absolutely loved baseball and, as a youth, pitched his team to the playoffs, coming just one game shy of the Little League World Series.

Terry spent 27 years working at Valero Refinery in both Corpus Christi and Houston. He was a true team player, respected not only for his knowledge of baseball but also for his expertise in his work and his willingness to share that knowledge with others.

After retiring early, Terry devoted himself to caring for his parents in their later years, a time he deeply cherished. Anyone who knew Terry knew his giving heart and his desire to care for others. Family meant everything to him. He loved his sons, daughter-in-laws, and seven grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papau”, a name he wore with great pride. He also held a deep love for his brother and sister.

Terry is survived by his former wife, Diane (Walker) Koehler; his sons Robert Dale and Ashley Koehler of Magnolia, Benjamin David and Linda Koehler of New Braunfels, and Jonathan Duane and Elizabeth Koehler of Spring; as well as seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Lynn Hughes of Gillett, and his brother, Jeffrey Glenn and Judy Koehler of Seguin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Massey Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Muehlbrad officiating. Interment will follow at Nordheim Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Koehler, Ben Koehler, John Koehler, Kevyn Koehler, Cooper Koehler and JR Saenz. Honorary pallbearers are Hayden McGlothlin, Collin Koehler, Wyatt Koehler, John McElya, Mark Bratton, Phil David, Richard Aguirre, John Jones and Marshall Bird.
