Victor Arnold Riske, 75, of Yorktown, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020. He was born April 2, 1945 in Shiner to the late Victor and Hertha Mueller Riske. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1963. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Hermann Sons.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Gerry Henze, on July 2, 1966, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice, TX, by Reverend A.H. Bohls, and was blessed to spend more than 51 happy years by her side. Together they had four children, and over the years, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren were added to the family.
He graduated from vocational school in St. Louis, MO, and went on to work at Halliburton in Alice, Luling, and Victoria, for 25 years. After a short retirement, he began his second career as an oil transport truck driver, which he enjoyed for nearly 20 years. He was an avid collector of an assortment of things, especially recipes, cookbooks, and magazines. He was a huge fan of polka music and enjoyed listening and dancing often.
He is survived by his children Kimber McCrory, Ryan (Debbie) Riske, Gayle (Ashley) Hoefling, Kristin (Roger) Schustereit; grandchildren Matthew (Amy) Staton, Stephanie Riske, and Sadie Schustereit. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Nash and Norah Staton, two nieces Laurie (Scott) Stevenson and Cory Nau (Jennifer Magnon), and beloved great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Irene Krametbauer, son-in-law Donald McCrory, Jr., and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Twyla and Wayne Nau.
Everyone is welcome to a graveside service for Victor and Gerry at the Lutheran Cemetery on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 11:00am. Immediately following the service, there will be a celebration of life at the DeWitt Country Veteran's Center, formerly the American Legion Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Teltschik, Janice Teltschik, Linda Tuttle, Arnold Riske, Ronnie Riske, Donnie Riske, and Curtis Riske.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
