Willie Henry Goehring, 84, of Nordheim passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He was born December 13, 1935, in Weesatche, Texas to the late Alfred and Lillian (Landgrebe) Goehring.
Willie met his wife, Alma Jean Fuhrken, in Nordheim. They were married on December 8, 1957 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He worked at Fox Alignment, Haggard Biscuit Company, and Alamo Iron Works, all in San Antonio. In August of 1979 they moved the family to Nordheim to help with the family farm and spent the rest of his life there.
Willie enjoyed spending vacations with his family, nights out at the Gaslight Theatre with his wife and friends, and in his younger days, driving the boat while his children learned to water ski. In his presence, it was best to leave the heel of any loaf of bread to him-especially the loaves Alma made. He loved to indulge in fried fish and sweets at family gatherings, overbid you in dominoes, and watch old westerns. He consistently reminded his grandkids to keep their speed under 100 when they’d leave from visits. If asked how his day was, he would always let you know he had “nothing to brag about.” As a hardworking man who loved working with his hands, there was nothing he and his brother Daniel couldn’t fix. He stood by his wife as a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. His loved ones will greatly miss his witty comments and smirk.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Jean (Fuhrken); his children, Jeanene (James) Schroedter, Kathleen (Ruben) Bryand, Christine (Wesley) Wisian; his brother Daniel Goehring and sister, Gladys (Gaylon) Franke; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Guinn, Jacqueline Schroedter, Ashley (Daniel) Perez, Alyssa (Forrest) Forte, Amanda Bryand, Lucas Bryand, Layne Wisian, Grahm Wisian; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Larry Goehring; parents; and brother, Roy Goehring.
